Battery and range
How far can I ride my bike with a full battery?
How far you can ride your e-bike depends on various factors. For example, consider the weight of the rider, the type of road surface and the weather conditions. To give you a rough estimate of how far you can cycle, refer to the following:
In tube battery
24.5 Ah (882Wh) ~ 120 – 220 km
22.4 Ah (806Wh) ~ 110 – 200 km
18.2 Ah (655Wh) ~ 100 – 170 km
17.4 Ah (628Wh) ~ 100 – 160 km
14.0 Ah (500Wh) ~ 80 – 120 km
Battery in rear carrier
17.4 Ah (628Wh) ~ 100 – 160 km
15.6 Ah (562Wh) ~ 90 – 140 km
13.0 Ah (468Wh) ~ 70 – 120 km
10.4 Ah (374Wh) ~ 60 – 90 km
When do I charge the battery of my e-bike?
We always recommend charging your battery after every ride, even after shorter rides this is still recommended. The battery may remain in the frame or be disconnected during charging.
Not using your e-bike for a while? Then it is recommended to charge the battery at about 80% of its capacity.
Can I charge my battery continuously?
It is possible to connect the battery of your e-bike to the charger for a longer period of time. The Battery Management System (BMS) stops the voltage being delivered when the battery is almost fully charged. This protects the battery against overcharging.
Can I ride my bike when the battery is empty?
This is possible. When the battery is empty, you will no longer receive pedal assistance and you will notice that pedaling is slightly heavier. This has nothing to do with the 'hard running' of the e-bike, but with getting used to it. You have to get used to cycling again which takes strength. An e-bike is slightly heavier than a regular bicycle, which means that slightly more energy is required to propel it. In principle, you can ride our e-bikes like normal bicycles.
How long does it take for my e-bike battery to be fully charged?
Fully charging your e-bike battery can take between four to eight hours. This depends on the residual capacity and the type of charger.
- A two amp charger has a charge time of five to eight hours
- A three amp charger has a charge time of three to five hours
What is the correct temperature for charging and storing my battery?
It is best to charge your battery at room temperature of around 21°C.
The permitted storage temperature for your battery is between 15°C and 35°C.
Be aware that your battery will perform less well in extreme cold or heat. Never place your battery in direct sunlight or in places where the temperature can rise quickly.
I will not be using my e-bike for a long period of time. How do I protect the battery?
If you will not be using your battery for a long period of time, make sure that your battery is between 60% and 80% charged and store the battery in a cool and dry environment.
We recommend that you fully recharge the battery every two months so that the energy cells within the battery are not damaged and you prevent deep discharge.
Does my battery have to be completely empty before I charge it?
No. You can charge your battery at any time. The lifespan of a battery does not deteriorate when you charge the battery at, for example, 80% instead of 20%.
How do I ensure the longest possible battery life?
- You can do a number of things to increase the life of your battery:
- Make sure the battery is charged after every ride, even after shorter rides
- Store the battery in a dry environment at room temperature
- Make sure that the battery is between 60% - 80% charged when you do not use it for a longer period of time
- Recharge the battery every 2 months for longer storage
- Provide suitable support and acceleration while riding your bike. This way the battery is not unnecessarily loaded.
My battery is not working (properly). What should I do?
It is quite normal for the performance of your battery to deteriorate slowly. This is a normal aging process and occurs with every battery.
